Duck Creek Macadamias

Duck Creek Macadamias are back!

Just in time for Valentines Day - the Fantasies Gift Box from Duck Creek Macadamia features local macadamias, toasted and coated in toffee, then dipped in couverture chocolate. They are truly indulgent and very delicious.

White Gold Creamery

Local cheese makers Michael and Bronwyn Lind were originally scientists with a cheese-making hobby. Now their hobby is their main business, but they still get to utilise all their chemistry and biology knowledge in creating a truly regional cheese South East Queensland can celebrate!

Best seller for us has been their White Gold Fetta - a persian-style feta that enhances any salad with its creamy texture and subtle marinated flavour. The oil makes great dressings!

White Gold Halloumi is also a more subtle cheese in every way. Softer in texture and less salty in flavour - won't get overly squeaky or chewy with cooking.

New in stock - Albert River Washed Rind - a cheeselover's soft cheese with a pungent rind. The orange rind develops from regular washing with brine and cultures. Enjoy it while you can as it is limited seasonal release and stock will run out.

New - Fresh Local Raw Honey

Father and son Markus and Josef Kramer have set up an apiary and food safe processing shed right here in our neighbourhood! This is wonderful for us because we can now stock an unlimited supply of their wonderful Three Mile Honey. Packaged in new clean plastic 1kg jars you can trust, the colour is light gold and texture is highly viscous at this time of year. Subtle flavour differences will feature season to season. Unheated, filtered, local and delicious! Beeswax products coming soon too!

What's In The Box?

Organic rockmelon features in F&V boxes and Fruit boxes this week! At last - apples are NEW SEASON gala and mutsu (granny) varieties. They'll get sweeter as the season progresses but they will store well and be at the peak of their nutrition after a month or so of cold storage. Isn't that amazing?

Local organic celery returns to regular inventory and features in Veg boxes, Soup/Roast Boxes and Broth boxes this week. Organic eschallots come from Ashley Palmer at Mt Cotton and Bok Choi (actually white stemmed Pak Choi) and eggplant come from Arran Heidemann at Powerful Owl Permaculture in Mt Samson.

We have organic baby carrots in stock this week. They are sweet and crispy but they won't last as long in cold storage so keep them in a plastic bag or container to extend their freshness. Browse our Green Grocer section for more.

What's Your Advice, RE - Packaging?

Do you have Fresh Local bags and boxes in storage? We seek returning bags and boxes for the smooth running of our daily operations. Please SMS Jodie on 0409165000 to arrange collection this week.

The reusable styro and cardboard boxes and cotton drill bags have served us very well for six years. But we struggle to keep them turning around as quickly as we need them. We have been contemplating 'what next?' for our packaging dilemmas. How do you all feel about us using NEW styro boxes? How do you all feel about us retiring the cloth bags? Our packaging policy has been a big part of what makes our business so lean and green - and it is one of our core values - so we'd love to hear from you. Just hit reply to this email.

Paper Products

Thanks to all our loyal Who Gives A Crap customers this past two weeks. They have sold like hot cakes - enough to tempt us to stock their luxury line of bamboo toilet paper. Stay tuned!
